Capstone secures order for 25 natural gas-fueled C65 microturbines

Capstone Turbine Corporation, a clean technology manufacturer of microturbine energy systems, announced recently that it received an order for 25 C65 microturbines to fulfill the continual expansion of existing oil and gas customer fleets in shale plays across the western United States.

GE celebrates manufacture of first 9HA gas turbine

GE recently celebrated the first 9HA manufactured at the company’s Belfort Gas Turbine Center of Excellence in France, after years of research and development. It was supported by a billion dollar investment plan, GE said. The turbine is likely to be shipped to Bouchain, France, where Électricité de France (EDF) and GE are developing a gas-fired power plants.

Siemens to supply 24 H-class gas turbines for Egyptian grid

German industrial company Siemens recently signed an 8 billion Euro deal ($9 billion) with Egypt to supply gas and wind power plants to boost the North African country's electricity generation by 50 percent. The deal was signed during an official visit of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to Germany , and is said to be the company's single biggest order. It is likely to give a boost to its gas and power division which is struggling at home.

Spanish firm ACS to construct 615MW combined-cycle plant in Mexico

Mexico’s state electric utility, the CFE, has awarded the construction of the 615 MW Valle de Mexico II combined-cycle power plant to a three-unit consortium of Spanish civil engineering firm ACS: Cobra, Avanzia Instalaciones and Initec Energia. The consortium’s offer included gas and steam turbines supplied by German industrial giant Siemens.

Capstone to upgrade solid waste treatment center in Finland

Capstone recently received an order for a C1000 microturbine to upgrade a solid waste treatment center in Tampere, Finland. Sarlin Oy Ab, Capstone's distributor for Finland, Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania, secured the order, which is likely to be commissioned in early 2016. The turnkey project is the second major order for Sarlin Oy Ab within the last month.

Alstom to enter Brazilian steam turbine market with partner NG Metalurgica

Alstom SA has signed a cooperation agreement with Brazil's steam turbine manufacturer NG Metalurgica which allows it to enter the local market for high performance, small and mid-size steam turbines. Under the agreement, NG Metalurgica will be selling the French energy infrastructure group’s Geared Reaction steam turbines (GRT) in Brazil. In turn, Alstom will provide all the necessary technology to its partner, "contributing certain engineering services and components to the turbines sold by the Brazilian company," says a recent press release.

MHPSA to supply three M501J gas turbines for GTCC plant in Virginia

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Americas, Inc. (MHPSA) has received an order from Virginia Electric and Power Company (VEPCO) headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, for the supply of three M501J gas turbines.

Siemens to power Mexican plant with two SGT6-8000H gas turbines

Siemens has recently been awarded a contract to supply two SGT6-8000H gas turbines and two generators to Mexico. The components are to be installed at the Empalme I Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) in Sonora, Mexico.

MHPS renames H-80 gas turbine to H-100

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) has renamed their H-80 100 MW class, heavy-duty, high-efficiency gas turbine to the H-100, though the design is unchanged. MHPS changed the product name to more accurately reflect the rated capacity class of the prime mover.

The efficient, two-shaft H-100 is sold in a packaged design for quick site construction in simple cycle, combined cycle, cogeneration, or mechanical drive applications.
