Elliott Group opens turbomachinery service center in Tianjin, China

Elliott Group announced recently that it will open a new, 5,780-sq.m. turbomachinery service center in the Technological and Economic Development Area (TEDA) of the Binhai New District, Tianjin, China. The new facility, to be opened on May 7, 2015, will repair and maintain rotating equipment for customers in the oil & gas, chemical, petrochemical, refining, and coal industries. The facility's location in TEDA and proximity to the Port of Tianjin Xingang is likely to make movement of equipment and components simpler.
Containerized inlet air cooling solution for gas turbines

Johnson Controls, a global multi-industrial company, has launched YCP-2020, said to be the first containerized Gas Turbine Inlet Air Cooling (GTIAC) mechanical based solution in the market. This new product offering expands the current portfolio of GTIAC solutions.
Siemens turbines to increase Dubai’s power plant capacity by 700MW

German industrial group Siemens recently signed a $400 million contract to expand the M-Station power plant in Dubai. The deal with the emirate's state-owned utility DEWA is expected to increase the gas-powered plant's electricity-generating capacity to 2,760 MW from 2,060MW.
Alstom to supply 12 GRT steam turbines for Thailand grid

Alstom has been awarded a contract by Toyo Engineering Corporation worth about 65 million euros (Bt2.2 billion) to supply 12 units of 35-45MW geared reaction steam turbine (GRT) generators, auxiliaries and condensers, to Gulf MP Co for 12 power plants in Thailand.
Japanese-owned Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Compressor International Corporation (MCO-I) has begun operation in the U.S. at its facility in Pearland, Texas, outside Houston. The complex is also known as Pearland Works, and at present handles packaging, shipping, storage, service and maintenance of compressors and mechanical drive steam turbines.
TVA completes purchase of 700MW combined cycle gas plant in Mississippi

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has purchased a 700MW combined cycle gas plant owned by Quantum Choctaw Power, an affiliate of Quantum Utility Generation. With this, the TVA has expanded its low-emission, natural gas generation fleet. The power plant is the sixth combined cycle gas facility TVA has built or purchased since 2007, which will be renamed Ackerman Combined Cycle Plant. Two more facilities are under construction.
To establish its permanent presence in the Middle East, Dresser-Rand has set up a service center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The company also formally committed to a new multi-purpose facility in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Its investment in Dammam has created a multi-purpose and multi-product facility combining packaging for the Middle East with a service base in Saudi Arabia.
PW Power Systems to supply three Mobilepac units to Guinea

PW Power Systems, Inc. (PWPS), a group company of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), recently announced a contract with Miami Capital Holding Corporation to provide three Mobilepac units for installation in Conakry, Guinea. These units, said to be the very first Mobilepac units delivered to Guinea, will be operated by Miami Capital Holding Corporation’s subsidiary, K-Energie.
The LM6000-PF+ has an output between 54 MW and 58 MW (72,752 hp) and a 42.6% simple cycle efficiency. In combined cycle mode, efficiency rises to 56% (2xLM6000-PF+) and output to 139 MW. Only proven technologies from other LM6000 gas turbines and GE’s aviation engines are employed in the LM6000-PF+, which, is said to provide customers one of the best dollars-per-kilowatt solutions among aeroderivatives. This new aeroderivative gas turbine can reach full power in less than 10 minutes.
