The Gillis Treating Plant will treat off-spec natural gas with services such as CO2 amine treating, gas dehydration, CO2 compression, and related utility and power systems.
Evers & Sons was selected to conduct field installation work related to the Gillis Treating Plant—a primary component in the New Generation Gas Gathering (NG3) project. The NG3 project is a 255-mile gas gathering system built by Troy Construction, holding an initial capacity of 1.7 Bcf/day. The system will connect the Haynesville Shale and Gulf Coast LNG markets.
In addition, NG3 also includes an integrated carbon capture and sequestration solution at the system’s endpoint near Gillis, LA, which offers a net-negative CO2 emissions profile. The Gillis Treating Plant is the carbon-capture system’s core, treating off-spec natural gas with services such as CO2 amine treating, gas dehydration, CO2 compression, and associated utility and power systems. NG3 is being developed by a private midstream operator, Momentum Midstream.
“With a track record that stretches across 30 states and a reputation built over 40 years, Evers & Sons stands prepared for this mission-critical task,” said Buster Evers, CEO, Evers & Sons, Inc. “Throughout our history in the energy industry, we've consistently demonstrated our expertise. We're honored to take on this pivotal role in the NG3 project, underscoring our dedication to quality, safety, and on-time delivery."
Opero Energy engineered, designed, and fabricated the plant’s equipment, while Evers & Sons will handle all field activities associated with the Gillis Treating Plant: setting major equipment, installing more than 60,000 linear feet of prefabricated pipe spools, insulating approximately 20,000 linear feet of piping and equipment, and erecting about 570 tons of structural steel. The company will also install 1,500 cubic yards of concrete and 5,650 linear feet of perimeter fencing, in addition to managing MEITEC’s electrical and instrumentation installation.
Opero Energy’s Involvement
In February 2023, Opero Energy was awarded a major engineering, design, and fabrication contract for Momentum Midstream’s NG3 project in the Haynesville Shale. Opero Energy engineered, designed, and fabricated the treating and processing equipment for the project. NG3 will have an initial treating capacity of 1.7 Bcf/day, expandable to 2.2 Bcf/day. The project also includes a carbon capture and sequestration component to capture and permanently sequester CO2.
