In this episode of the TurboTime podcast, we interview longtime Turbomachinery International columnists Klaus Brun and Rainer Kurz on the state of energy storage in the industry. Existing technologies such as the natural gas pipeline system are crucial compared to alternative energy storage solutions, such as batteries or wind. The intermittency of newer storage systems puts into question their reliability, especially in terms of meeting peak demand. Natural gas can be ramped up or down depending on demand and doesn't heavily rely on exterior factors such as wind, water availability, or sunshine to reach optimal efficiencies.
