Alstom recently secured two contracts worth €220 million for the supply and maintenance of the power island of the 950 MW Kirikkale combined-cycle power plants in the central Anatolia region in Turkey. Alstom will supply two GT26 gas turbines, two heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), one steam turbine and three turbo-generators. The plant is expected to be commissioned in May 2017.
The project will sell the dependable power capacity and electricity dispatched through bilateral contracts on a merchant basis. Kirikkale Independent Power Project (KIPP) is developed by Acwa Güç Elektrik Işletme ve Yönetim Sanayi ve Ticaret (ACWA Guc). Samsung Construction and Trading (SCT) are responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work on a turnkey basis.
In addition, Alstom will provide installation and commissioning field advisory services along with 20 years of maintenance service to SCT after commissioning. In Turkey, Alstom has supplied key equipment for nearly 25 percent of the power generation capacity, including Atatürk dam, a hydro power plant.
