India’s Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has been commissioned to install a 150 MW gas turbine for Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB)’s 225MW combined cycle (dual fuel) power plant at Sikalbaha in Chittagong district.
Meanwhile L&T’s second 280MW gas turbine has been commissioned on North West Power Generation’s Ltd (NWPGCL) combined cycle gas-fired power plant (360 MW) development project at Bheramara in Kushtia district.
Both plants were connected to the grid late last month. Once fully operational, the two power facilities are expected to generate around 635MW of electricity.
The scope of the EPC contract is comprised of design, detailed engineering, supply, installation and commissioning of the power plant on a turnkey basis.
In addition, L&T Power is working as an EPC subcontractor for another 400 MW gas based power plant at Bibiyana in Sylhet district, which is expected to be operational between 2018 and 2019.
