Sulzer has been selected by GE as the exclusive licensed repair provider for the LM5000 gas turbine. The two companies recently signed an agreement, and repairs will be completed at Sulzer’s Houston service center. Along with technical assistance on site, GE will make available LM5000 parts, drawings, manuals and service bulletins to Sulzer.
The LM5000 turbine is based on the CF6-56 aero engine and consists of a two-rotor gas generator and three-stage power turbine. It is used in industrial settings, especially for power generation. Sulzer’s Houston service center repairs and maintains gas and steam turbines, compressors and expanders. A third-party service center, it features engineering and repair capabilities with more than 23 225 m2 of under crane shop space.
