At Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia (TPS) 2024, Tim Allison, Ph.D., the Director of the Machinery Department at Southwest Research Institute (SWRI), shares what he's most excited about at this year's show and provides insights into the turbomachinery trends is seeing.

Allison said: “We see a lot of trends focusing on the decarbonization of turbomachinery that includes gas turbine—actually gas turbines are growing in the power-generation mix. They are a very good bridge technology, but with the growth of gas turbines, there's a lot of talk about how to decarbonize them through hydrogen or carbon capture, and that includes discussions of retrofit or load-following behaviors. We see a lot on the compressor side about the transport of hydrogen or CO2 for pipelines”
