Rolls-Royce announced recently that two of the Group's Trent 60 gas turbines have successfully entered service at the new EDF Luminus power plant located at Angleur in the city of Liège, Belgium. The Trent 60 gas turbines, each capable of producing 64 MW of power, are said to achieve fast start-up in nine minutes, helping EDF Luminus deliver continuous supply of electricity to households and businesses during peak demand periods.
The Rolls-Royce Trent 60 units can operate on either liquid or gas fuel and feature wet low emissions (WLE) and advanced inlet spray inter-cooling (ISI) technologies which help reduce emissions and maintain maximum power output over a wide range of temperatures.
With 1,986 MW of installed capacity, EDF Luminus accounts for 13% of domestic electricity output and supplies 1.7 million customers.
