New plant supports Taiwan's climate-neutral aims
WELTEC BIOPOWER GmbH is building a biogas plant in the southwest of Taiwan, in the city of Tainan. For the 360 KW plant, the German biogas specialist is supplying a turnkey solution based on stainless-steel technologies. WELTEC is responsible for the engineering, execution, and complete servicing, including biological analyses. Construction of the operator’s headquarters is scheduled to begin in 2023, while commissioning is planned for 2024.
Electricity produced will both be fed to the grid and reused by the plant. The heat will be used to warm the operator’s production facilities via a local distribution network. It will be used to supply a Pigsty that is going to be equipped by WELTEC‘s parent company WEDA Dammann & Westerkamp. The pig manure will be the main substrate for operation of the biogas plant.
Due to its tectonic position, Taiwan experiences powerful earthquakes frequently. The stainless-steel construction and stability of the biogas plant has been designed to cope with the high earthquake probability and local wind load specifications.
This project is one of a series contributing to Taiwan’s overall goal of becoming a climate-neutral economy by 2050.
