Bechtel awards liquefaction train supply contract to Baker Hughes for use in Sempra’s Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 Project.
Baker Hughes is supplying main refrigerant compressors (MRCs), including two liquefaction trains, totaling four Frame 7 turbines and eight centrifugal compressor units, to Sempra Infrastructure’s Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 project in Texas. Bechtel awarded the contract to OEM Baker Hughes.
The Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 project will amount to a maximum rated output of about 13 million tons per annum of LNG. Two electric motor driven compressors for the plant’s boosting services are being included in the deal. Packaging of the turbine/compressor train, as well as manufacturing and testing of the compressors will occur at the OEM’s facilities in Italy.
The Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 project is expected to commence operations, with Train 1 and Train 2 launching sequentially in 2027 and 2028.
