Demonstration project designed to encourage growth of the country’s hydrogen infrastructure
Gasgrid Finland launched a hydrogen transmission infrastructure demonstration project, dubbed Oy, aimed at constructing a hydrogen transmission pipeline. The hydrogen will be generated at Kemira Oyj's Joutseno facility and then transported to Ovako Imatra Oy Ab's Imatra steel plant via Gasgrid's hydrogen pipeline. Finland's Ministry of Labor and the Economy has provided €9.5 million in funding to support the project's planning and potential construction.
The initiative lays the groundwork for advancing Finland's energy and raw materials market. If successful, the project will represent for Finland a step toward the establishment of a national and international hydrogen-based market.
