MHPS, Hitachi to provide H-25 gas turbine for combined cycle plant in China

Article

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) and Hitachi (China) have jointly secured a contract to provide an H-25 gas turbine for Ningbo Kefeng Thermal Power (NKTP). The new gas turbine will be an important component of a gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power generation plant with about 50MW output.

The new unit is expected to replace an existing gas turbine currently servicing in the first unit of NKTP's thermal power plant in Ningbo City, Zhejiang province, China.

The replacement is anticipated to result in about 12 percent improvement in efficiency at the thermal power plant.

Hitachi has secured the order for the H-25 gas turbine from Harbin Guanghan Gas Turbine, which is the engineering, procurement and construction contractor of the project. MHPS will manufacture the gas turbine, which is expected to start operations in July 2015.

MHPS said the GTCC plant will serve as the core component of a co-generation system that will respond to the Ningbo area's demand for steam and electric power.
