Siemens to deliver five SGT6-2000E gas turbines to Saudi Arabia

Saudi Electricity Company has awarded Siemens Energy two contracts valued at approximately SAR1 billion ($266 million) for the supply of five SGT6-2000E gas turbines to power stations in the Rafa, Rafha, Qurayyat and Arar areas as well as for the construction of the Al-Kharj-2 substation.

The first contract covers the supply of five SGT6-2000E gas turbines which will add a total of 388MW to SEC's power grid and will help meet the Kingdom's rising power demand. The second contract is for a turnkey project to build the Al-Kharj-2 380kV substation for which Siemens will build after supplying all key components such as gas insulated switchgear, transformers, line reactors, switchgear, protection systems, telecommunication system.

Arja Talakar, CEO of Siemens Saudi Arabia said these two latest contracts from SEC "are a testimony to the confidence placed in Siemens as a supplier of innovative infrastructure solutions". Siemens, with its partner E.A. Juffali & Brothers, has long-standing history to deliver power plant solutions to Saudi Arabia.
