Toshiba has received a contract from Sarulla Operations to provide three 60MW geothermal steam turbines and generators (STG) for its geothermal power plant project.
(Toshiba will supply three 60MW geothermal STGs)
The plant's output will account for approximately 1percent of Indonesia's total power generation and will have an installed capacity of 330MW, which will be constructed in three phases of 110MW each.
The Sarulla plant will come up in Tapanali Utara, North Sumatra, Indonesia. The construction of Phase 1 of the project is due to start in 2014, and its commercial operation is slated for 2016.
The project is owned and will be operated by Sarulla Operations, a consortium of PT Medco Energi International (27.5%), Ormat Technologies (12.75%), Itochu (25%) and Kyushu Electric (25%).
Hyundai Engineering and Construction (HDEC) is the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the power plant.
