PowerGen International 2023, held Feb. 21 -23 in Orlando, FL, featured a presentation by the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) on the benefits of propane-powered power solutions.
“Propane’s role in power generation is extensive,” said Jim Bunsey, director of commercial business development at PERC. “It can provide prime, backup, and remote power, combined heat and power (CHP), and mobile or towable power. It can also enable microgrids—local, self-sufficient electric grids that use renewable energy—by providing cost-effective, low-emission power generation.”
Bunsey believes propane will play a role in the electrification of the energy sector.
“Consumers want reliable power solutions, but they’re seeking clean equipment with a low emissions profile, too,” Bunsey said. “Propane is a stable, portable energy source that can help support Americans when the grid goes down.”
